Cricket Dinner and Awards Night

Saturday 5th December saw the annual cricket dinner take place in the main lounge of the clubhouse. The evening was sponsored by Kelvinside Electronics, catering provided by Anderson Catering and table decorations supplied courtesy of Stalks and Stems. Around 100 people were present to be entertained by a musical quartet and then guest speaker John Beattie, who provided a very interactive speech with several people being involved in rucking, mauling, line-outs and also learning the art of spin passing…without any serious damage being done to the clubhouse!

The annual player prizes were also given out along with 3 specialist awards:

1st XI (Greaves Clydesdale) Batsman of the Season: Harmanjit Singh

1st XI (Greaves Clydesdale) Bowler of the Season: Zeeshan Bashir

2nd XI (Titwood) Batsman of the Season: Sam Page

2nd XI (Titwood) Bowler of the Season: Tim Hart

3rd XI (Cavaliers) Batsman of the Season (Joint): Patrick Barbour

3rd XI (Cavaliers) Batsman of the Season (Joint): Hafeez Siddiq

3rd XI (Cavaliers) Bowler of the Season: Humza Sher

4th XI (Bees) Batsman of the Season: David Holmes

4th XI (Bees) Bowler of the Season: John McCrossan

The Douglas C Mitchell Memorial Trophy: Andrew Scobie

The All Round Contributor on the Field Plate: Gail McClory

The Cyril Payne Memorial Trophy: Ian Anderson

And there was also time for Andrew Scobie (U18 Joint Winners) and Ilan Selby (U13) to receive the trophies that their respective junior teams had won during the season, for Titwood skipper Tim Hart to receive the WDCU Division 2 Trophy, for Titwood vice-captain Haroon Sher to receive the Western Cup and for 1st XI hockey goalkeeper Stuart “Beefy” Brown to pick up the Scottish Hockey President’s Cup to celebrate the 1st team hockey squad winning their first trophy in 44 years.

A big thank you must go to everyone involved in the dinner but in particular to cricket Chairman Bill McCracken and the four captains who organised the event: Harmanjit Singh, Tim Hart, Gordon Barbour and Steve Taylor.
