Titwood Win Friendly v GU Staff.
An early morning phone from GU Staff provided the message the League match was extremely doubtful due to the poor weather of Thursday and Friday. However, Titwood were still asked to make the quick trip to Garscube just in case it suddenly became playable.

On arrival, it was quickly clear that the grass wicket was unplayable and that the WDCU League Match would have to be cancelled. However, the Astroturf wicket did provide the opportunity of a shortened friendly match. With both teams keen, a 20/20 match duly followed.

The GU Staff captain didn’t have a coin, so the toss was conducted via a table tennis bat – with the standard 2 flips out of 3 rules applying. Both flips saw Titwood captain Tim Hart call red and it fall black. GU Staff decided to bat, before changing their minds 2 minutes later and deciding they would field.

Cue the collapse – Titwood 3/3 off 5 overs, with David McArthur, Michael Borthwick and Andrew Allan all safely back in the scorebox. Dave Forsyth (26) and Patrick Barbour (30) rescued the situation well, before Andrew Scobie top-scored with a quick 40* and Shreyas Chitnis added 4*. Titwood 114/5.

Paul Tyler and Neil Fulton were entrusted with the very old and battered ball and only conceded 6 from the first 4 overs of the innings. Johnny MacKay replaced Paul and conceded 9 from his first over, followed by Neil conceding 14 from an over. These two overs were to prove the most expensive of the innings as all the bowlers fought back well. Johnny picked up 2 wickets, Patrick Barbour continued his good day by picking up 1 before a Chitnis / McArthur run-out provided another. With the total proving too much for GU Staff to chase, there was just enough time for Paul to return and pick up his first Clydesdale wicket, with a cleaned bowled. GU Staff 81/6..
