It's not been a vintage season for Clydesdale's U13s, but it finished in style at Langloan with a satisfying victory over Drumpellier. The hosts were hoping for a win that would have taken them above second-placed Clydesdale in the table, but their ambitions were quickly dashed when skipper Nick Pyne was well caught by Owain Taylor at mid-wicket in the second over. With all of Clydesdale's bowlers keeping line and length under control, the Drumps run-rate never got much above four, and when Ross Bain did what he does and took three wickets in the final over, the final score of 80 was some way below par on a fine, dry and sunny evening. But Clydesdale's mainstream batting has been a little unreliable in recent matches, so it needed a special effort from Calum Stout - who carved his way to 33 retired - and a first significant contribution from Ross Duckett - 15, before he finally succumbed to temptation - to make victory possible. The final run-in was 'supervised' by Owain, with a succession of younger players doing their bit, while Nathan Allison took two stunning catches at short mid-wicket in successive balls. That left No 9 batter Rohan Dhami to come in and score a single, the winning run, with a couple of overs still in hand. The win takes Clydesdale to the top of the table, equal on points with Ayr, who have played one match fewer and who, having defeated Clydesdale earlier in the season, would be awarded the trophy.
